What is patriotism? We all know that it is the love and devotion to ones country, but what does that really mean? Is it love of ones birthplace, the place of childhoods hopes and dreams? Is it the place where, we would watch the passing clouds, and wonder why we, too, could not float so swiftly through life today? Or is it the place where we would sit on Mothers knee, enraptured by tales of great deeds and conquests? In short, is it love for the place, where we belong, and have done many noble deeds and good things If that were patriotism, few men and women from our country today would be called upon to be patriotic. The true meaning of patriotism and how to show it is hidden within the qualities of love for your country, dedication, and simply saying the pledge of allegiance. To be patriotic, do you have to be someone big and important that fights in war(s), like a veteran? You are definitely patriotic for doing so, but you can do stuff everyday way more simple than that and be a patriotic person. You show patriotism by saying thank you to a veteran, removing your hat for the star spangled banner, and even just saying the pledge of allegiance. It might not seem like a lot, but when you break the pledge into pieces, you understand the meaning of it. It’s not just a pledge we say before school everyday for fun, it means that we are patriotic, and we love America. So saying â€Å"I pledge of allegiance to the flag of the united states of America† (and so on) we are pledging our loyalty to America. That saying itself is patriotic. And saying it everyday shows that you are loyal and dedicated to America. You show a steady dedication of patriotism by saying something as simple as the pledge of allegiance. Dedication is when someone is dedicated or committed to a task or purpose. So being dedicated to your country is putting you best foot forward and showing true patriotism! Not by and outburst screaming â€Å"I’m patriotic and America is amazing† that is patriotism but is that true dedication? Does that show that you want people to know you are thankful for what many veterans have gone through so that we could be a free country? America is a free country today, and we wouldn’t be in the position we are in today if it weren’t for those dedicated veterans. Being dedicated to your country is a main essential of patriotism. How can you show that you love America? Take a moment and ask yourself, do I love America with all my heart? Having dedication and arrogance to America means that you love the place in which you belong.. Patriotism isn’t just the fact of having strong devotion to America, You can be patriotic by letting your love shine through when you are saying the pledge or holding you right hand over your heart during the star spangled banner. You might not notice it but people really do a lot of things to show that they love America. You don’t need to wear red white and blue every day. You just need to show the true meaning of patriotism, Love for your country and dedication towards America. Patriotism. The love and devotion to one’s country. Take a second and think about it, what does patriotism mean to you? How can somebody show patriotism? Meaning that you don’t do something quick, fast, and easy to be patriotic. You show your love to the country, your dedication to the country, and arrogance all throughout your life. So ponder the thought that patriotism, is forever.
